Irma Kracov Obituary

Our mom, Irma Kracov, passed away at age 87 on November 13, 2025 in Durango, Colorado following a long series of medical challenges she met with grace and good humor. Her final battle was against malignant melanoma. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and was fortunate to have a devoted big brother, Howie. She married our dad, David, and they were married for 53 years until he passed away in 2010. Together they raised 3 daughters in Trumbull, CT. Following dad's death, mom lived in Florida for 9 years so she could spend time with her brother. Mom was a lifelong fan of musical theatre, and performed in many local productions. Her love of song meant there was always music playing in the house. A cutthroat player of Mah-Jongg, she played with a group of friends in Connecticut and Florida for 50 years. When she was younger, mom played the position of spiker in volleyball and she could swing the heck out of a tennis racquet. She loved a good margarita and was a lover of a variety of foods; she never met a lobster tail she didn't like! Irma had an infectious laugh, loved to travel, and was a voracious reader who loved and valued libraries and book clubs. Throughout her life she volunteered at hospitals and for hospice in Connecticut. Mom would never hesitate to talk about her love for us and considered being a mom her greatest accomplishment. As grandchildren began to enter her life, she reached a new state of happiness. Mom was also active in Multiple Sclerosis support groups in both Connecticut and Colorado. Mom leaves behind her 3 daughters, Allison West of Pacifica, CA, Stacey Ebel (Russ) of Durango, CO, and Abby Sesselberg of Guilford, CT, along with her grandchildren Jessica, Max and his wife Jamie, Harry, Graham, and Tyler all of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the hospitalists & wonderful staff of Mercy Hospice who always ensured that our mother maintained her dignity during her final weeks with them. We'd also like to thank Comfort Keepers, Priscilla Clovis & employees with Confluence at Three Springs, The La Plata County MS Society and Alpine Bank at Three Springs for always helping & looking out for mom.
