Dean was a fantastic mentor to me when I started my dental practice in Durango and a wonderful friend. He helped me in so many ways when I started my practice next to his and invited me to Electra to share his knowledge on fishing as well. One memorable occurance is when I asked him if he would take me and my dad who was visiting from SD fishing. With some hesitation he agreed even though it was a busy time for him. My dad surprised Dean with a large container of walleye cheeks, a delicacy for Dean. From that point on dad was always welcome at the cabin :). I will miss him. Jeff Nelson

My deepest condolences to Sandy and Travis, Mary, and Zara. I have a lot of childhood memories with Dean & Sandy, as well as tagging behind Travis like a puppy when our families went to the lake to fish. My mom worked for Dr. Brown for years, and I can hear his laugh even now and remember how warm and kind he and his family have always been. My thoughts are with you as you mourn, and I send wishes for peace and comfort as you come to terms with this loss.

I was introduced to Dean by Dr. Ken Wilson, oral surgeon, after being referred to Dean by Ken. The first dentist I met recommended that I get several teeth pulled and referred me to Ken and luckily he informed me that he didn't think I should get any teeth pulled and referred me to his personal dentist Dean in 1974.
That started a fantastic friendship with both Dean and Ken.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to Sandy and their extended family.
I missed Dean as my dentist from the moment he retired he was by far the best dentist I have had in my whole life and he saved ALL of my teeth.
He had a great sense of humor and was a highly skilled outdoorsman.
The favorite times I enjoyed with Dean were meeting him at the Solid Muldoon enjoying a few libations and discussing experiences of living in Durango.
The last years I rarely saw him other than bumping into him on the street or at WalMart.
He loved his family with his whole heart and soul and they had a great ride through life.
REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR EXTENDED FAMILY

Dr. Brown was a friend and mentor. Along with Dr. Mike McCanlies and Dr. John Hayhurst, they inspired and enabled me to forge my own path through the world of dentistry. A trail that I continue to break today after 55 years.
I was blessed to have made crowns for him. He was my personal dentist when I was a young man. I can attest to his greatness as a dentist. I will always be thankful and will never forget Dean Brown.

Sending love to Sandy, Travis, Mary and Zara Rose. I will always treasure the time I spent at Electra Lake with Great Uncle Dean. I loved listening to him tell stories about growing up in Kansas with my grandma. He taught me so much about fly fishing and I will always think of him when I'm on the water. He will be dearly missed.
