Goldie Westgaard Obituary

Goldie Jane was born on September 20,1936, to her parents, Paul and Clarice Schmid, at her family's ranch on Wilson Mesa. Her parents named her Goldie for the Aspen trees were showing their golden leaves. She was a lifelong caretaker, educator, and talented storyteller. A woman of strong faith, she was a loving active member of Marvel Methodist Church, where she was known for her warm beautiful smile. She passed into the Lord's care surrounded by the loving hearts of her family. Goldie Jane is survived by her sons; Olaf Westgaard IV (Nina) Odin O. Westgaard (Paula) and Oscar (April). Her grandchildren, Erik, Kyle, Amanda, and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Johnny, Jaiden, and Avery. She is also survived by her brothers, Marvin Schmid (Sky) and Sydney Schmid (Karen), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Marvel Methodist Church in Marvel, CO, at 10:00 on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Please join us to share memories and stories. A potluck luncheon to follow. Jane loved bright colors, with purple being her favorite. Please wear something vibrant. In keeping with her wishes, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Marvel Methodist Outreach Program and the Humane Society of La Plata County.
