Betsy Eich Obituary

Betsy Ruth Eich, 65, of Durango, Colorado, left this world on October 11, 2025 after a battle with cancer. Daughter of Glenn and Betty Hurni, Betsy was married to Dr. James C. "Jim" Eich for 47 years. They have three sons, Dr. Coleman (Kalee) Eich of Arvada, Colorado; Cody (Alisha) Eich of Brantford, Ontario, Canada; and Charlie (Rachel) Eich of Loveland, Colorado, as well as seven wonderful grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Hurni, 97, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and a sister, Glennda (Tom) Meyer, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. One of four children, Betsy was Salutatorian of her high school class at Evangel Christian School in Lakeland, Florida, where she was active in her church youth group and a touring student singing group along with her future husband, Jim. After their marriage in 1978, Betsy and Jim lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then on the Crow Reservation in Montana. They returned to Florida for seven years, then moved to Durango in early 1992. She was an extremely devoted wife and mother, with her boys and grandchildren being her proudest accomplishment. She always enjoyed Bible study, church, and church activities, and volunteered in numerous Christian activities until her health prohibited them.

Betsy's favorite past-times included horseback vacations at Lost Valley Ranch, raising and training dogs, hiking, cycling, paddle boarding, and snow skiing. She was loved by many friends and family, most of whom she looks forward to seeing again in eternity with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of Durango on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please donate either to First Baptist Church of Durango or Manna Soup Kitchen.
