Tom was a great man whom I admired significant. He was kind and knew a lot about the old ways and times. As a denizen that grew up in Marvel I was well aquatinted with the Herrera's and the Fitches. I loved them all. The los of Tom is a great loss to the history of Southwest Colorado as well as the American west. RIP Tom.

Some of my best memories as a child, is in Marvel with this family, that I was a part of, for a blink of an eye. I'm sad that good times and people can't last forever. I will never forget any of you. Our memories keep us smiling. You are all, always in my heart.

My condolences to his loving family. I was working as a Nursing Assistant @ Four Corners and worked as a PT assistant. Iv worked with Tommy and took care of him like he was my papa. Well actually he was. :) I asked Tommy one day If he could be my papa? He looked at me and said “well hell,I guess and laughed”. When I got him ready for the day or we did therapy Together. We would listen to Old George Jones, George’s straight, Hank Williams etc. He’d tap his feet and it brought me to tears every time.. Having him in my life when I had no idea who was in the beginning. Was life changing, I missed my dad so much and got lost along the way. But Tommy for some reason made me get back on track and helped me found who I was again. Just being around Tommy made you feel loved, and cared for. And when they told me he left us. It really hurt, but I know he’s somewhere chasing cattle or training horses. Listening to some old country. But I know he isn’t hurting anymore and living his best life all over again. I just wanted to let the family know. Tommy saved me from what could of ruined my life. And I never got to thank him. Again I’m sending my condolences and he is truly being missed. Thank you Mr. Tommmy Herrera
