Rebecca Smith Obituary

Rebecca Chamberlain Smith passed away peacefully at her home in Denver, Colorado, on January 22, 2025. Her loss is deeply felt by everyone who knew and loved her.

Becca was many things to many people: a devoted sister, a loving daughter, a cherished cousin and niece, an adoring aunt, Happy B to her sweet Lottie and Celia, the best possible friend, and a respected colleague. However, above all, she valued her roles as a wife to the love of her life, Kevin, and as a mother to Owen and Jackson, who brought her endless joy and pride.

Becca's vibrant spirit shone through her many talents and interests. She was a gifted and beautiful writer with an insatiable appetite for the written word - a self-proclaimed bookworm, she was always ready with the perfect recommendation for any reader. She was an accomplished equestrian, a committed runner, and a natural caretaker. Known as everyone's number-one cheerleader and preferred shoulder to cry on, she had an incredible ability to make the smallest victories feel monumental and the smallest disappointments feel validated and heard. Her warmth and compassion touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the good fortune of knowing her.

Becca's generosity extended to her professional life, where she chose to use her talents to make a meaningful impact on several non-profits. Her work played a significant role in supporting and empowering underserved and vulnerable communities - a testament to her selfless nature and commitment to making the world a better place, and making sure everyone is heard.

Becca is held in the hearts of many, including her husband, Kevin Smith; her two sons, Owen and Jackson Smith; her mother, Connie Chamberlain; her brother, Ian Chamberlain (wife, Tamlin); her niece and nephew, Emma and Andrew Chamberlain; her aunt, Sarah Chamberlain (husband, Edward Galston); her uncle Michael Chamberlain (wife, Sarah); her aunt Fran Williams (husband, Gary); and her five cousins Marygrace, Colbe, Anne, Josh and Jenny. She was preceded in death by her father, David Chamberlain, and her brother, Andrew Chamberlain.

In the words of one of her favorite authors, Mary Oliver, Becca certainly did not "end up simply having visited this world." Rather she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her. She will be remembered for her boundless generosity of spirit and her ability to selflessly lift others up, no matter the circumstance.

Information regarding a memorial service to celebrate Becca's life will be shared at a later date. First, we thank you Connie & Dave for bringing such a beautiful soul into this world. We have known Becca since she was one years old, when Connie helped bring our daughter, Lauri, into Becca's life. Through the life in Florida, to the trips to Durango, our families have been one. Feel blessed to have Becca in our hearts forever and to be continuing our family gatherings talking about the wonderful memories. Love, Donna and Dan

Connie, I was stunned to see that Becca passed away. I had heard she had cancer but these days, treatment can be very effective and I guess, I assumed she had conquered it. I love the photo chosen with her obituary. Smiling and bright and beautiful! The words written to describe her...just beautiful! But, my heart aches for you! Incredible loss...

It was an incredible honor getting to know and caring for Rebecca as one of her nurses. She was one of the most beautiful humans/souls I have ever met. She will inspire me for days to come, and I know the stars are now shining brighter with Rebecca in their presence. Sending so much love to you all.

It was such a pleasure and an honor to have been a colleague of Becca´s at The Gathering Place. She was one of those rare employees who was loved and admired by simply everyone. I think it was her ability to be fully present and engaged that made Becca so special. Whatever we were doing or feeling, Becca was right there with us; involved, hopeful, and aware. Becca listened, and contributed. She had an infectious laugh, as well as the ability to sit with someone through tragic tears. If there was a game, she played; a committee, she served. As an organization, and as her colleagues, we were blessed to have witnessed her daily kindness, integrity and humanity. The loss is great. Condolences to all.

This is just surreal... Becca was a sister, my first friend ... she was brilliant and generous. Kind and nurturing. Self aware and compassionate. Honest and warm. So strong and dedicated. The most beautiful soul who is gone too soon. My heart will treasure every memory. Sending love to you all.

Ran with Rebecca on her first Denver marathon. She was a beautiful soul and spoke lovingly about her husband and boys on long runs together.

Becca was a rare soul. Kind, generous, and a supportive friend to all whom she held close. Time spent with her held laughter, vulnerability and wisdom. A legacy of love is a profound gift to leave behind; and that is what we have from her.

I worked with Becca and her dad, David, at Dominos, while she was in high school. She was a classmate of my son, at that time. She was always sweet, caring, respectful, and fun to work with. I think of her often, and am blessed to have known her. my heart aches for her family, at their loss. The world just lost a real special person, but heaven gained one. Rest in peace, my friend. say hello to your dad for me.
