Nancy Henderson Obituary

Former Durango resident Nancy A. Henderson passed away August 30, 2013 in Colorado Springs, after a recent diagnosis of cancer. She was 62.

Ms. Henderson was born Nancy Wycoff on April 13, 1951, in Phoenix, to Albert and Jo Wycoff. In 1963, the family moved to Flagstaff, Ariz., where she graduated from Coconino High School in 1969.

Over the years, she worked in Flagstaff, Salt Lake City, Utah and Durango from about 1990 to 2000 as a bartender at the Strater Hotel.

According to her family, she had a great sense of humor, and friends and family often were entertained by her wit and colorful sarcasm.

She was an amateur naturalist who enjoyed being outside and identifying birds.

"She loved Durango," according to her family. "She loved nature and watching birds, collecting rocks and bugs."

Ms. Henderson was preceded in death by her parents and her son Matt Henderson. She is survived by her son Todd Henderson of Woodward, Okla., her brother Brad Wycoff of California, Md., sisters Cathi Selph of Greenville, S.C., and Carolyn Potter of Flagstaff, Ariz., and four grandchildren.

Services were handled by Cappadona Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, where she was cremated. Burial will take place next spring next to her son, Matt, in Flagstaff.
