Margit Squire Obituary

Margit Elizabeth Squire (nee Bierling) was born July 19, 1944 in Dudelange, Luxembourg to Anny (nee Michels) and Ludwig Bierling. She passed away Monday, October 30, 2023 at the age of 79 in Durango, Colorado.

She grew up playing with her brother and sister in the beautiful Bavarian town of Ulm, Germany. She attended an all girl's Catholic high school and was enough of a troublemaker that her Brewmeister father provided the nuns beer to look the other way. Her proudest school moment was being elected President of her dance class, because the nuns could not interfere.

She worked as a dental assistant and hygienist for the US Army base in Germany before heading to America and starting a family in Wichita, Kansas. She rose to the position of office manager and eventually opened a solo practice with the love of her life and husband, Dr. Charles F. Squire, DDS. She was the lifeblood of the periodontal practice for decades and ensured great care for patients and staff until her retirement in 2011.

Despite being the daughter of a Brewmeister, Margit loved good red wine, good food and good company. She loved to cook and was renowned for her German potato salad, Spatzle and rouladen. She had a soft spot for animals and loved her mini-Schnauzers! "Little Mimi", a pup bearing Margit's own nickname "Mimi", is patiently waiting for her mom's snuggles, kisses and hugs.

Above all, Margit loved her family and considered herself blessed to have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews all over the world. She believed she had found her soulmate in Charles and dared to believe she had once lived as Elisabeth "Sisi" Empress of Austria (and didn't care what others thought about that). She was a loving wife, a great mother, proud grandmother and beloved friend.

She is survived by her husband Charles of Durango, Colorado and brother Peter Bierling and family of Munich, Germany. She is also survived by children Chrystal Boles, Clinton Frischenmeyer, Ellen Squire and Bret Squire; grandchildren Emily Sallade, Jacob Barnes, Nicky Martin, Zachery Neal, Eva Squire, Elizabeth Aragon, C.J. Frischenmeyer and Scarlet Frischenmeyer; great-grandchild Klaus Duclos; and Godson Nate Schwiethale. She was preceded in death by her sister Christa Bierling and daughter Angela Martin.

A private Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 and additional services will be held in Wichita, Kansas to be announced at a future date and time. In lieu of flowers, please support Margit's charities: La Plata County Humane Society (1111 S Camino Del Rio, Durango, Colorado 81303) or the Wichita Children's Home (7271 E 37th Street N, Wichita, Kansas 67226).

I just today learned of Margit´s passing. I came into contact with her through dentistry. I was hired into the Periodontal practice she was managing in Wichita, Ks on South Hillside in 1987. Our thoughts go out to her beloved husband Dr. Charles Squire and her entire family. May peace be with all of you especially during this Christmas time. From Kansas

I was fortunate to have met Margit and do her hair and nails.
She had a great sense of humor and I always looked forward to chatting with her during an appointment. I gave her some Stollen I had made at Christmas time and was so happy that she liked it. She was very generous in so many ways and she always beamed when she talked about "Chuck". I know she will be truly missed by her friends and family. I was so very sorry to learn of her passing.

Chuck, Chrystal, Clint, Ellen and Brett, I'm so sorry for your loss of such an elegant and kind lady. I knew Margit all my life. She was my very favorite babysitter and I thoroughly enjoyed knowing her as an adult. I will always have fond memories of our Olive Tree outings with Chrystal back in the day. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

In Loving Memory of My Beloved Cousin
Margit, my cherished cousin who has recently left this world to embark on her journey into the eternal embrace of timelessness was a shining light in my live, a source of joy, laughter, and unwavering support.
Her presence could brighten even the gloomiest of days, and her infectious smile warmed the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She possessed an exceptional kindness and a genuine warmth that radiated from her soul.
Her family was always at the center of her world. She had an remarkable ability to bring us all closer, to unite us in times of celebration, and to provide solace in moments of sorrow. Her love and dedication to her family were unwavering, and I am forever grateful for the beautiful memories she has etched into my heart.
Margit was a person of remarkable strength and resilience. In the face of adversity, she showed unwavering courage and determination.
As now as I have to say my final goodbye, I remember Margit with smiles of gratitude for the time I was blessed to share with her and her lovely husband Chuck in Wichita, Eagle Rock Lake House, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Durango, San Antonio and Houston. All these wonderful unforgettable moments we shared together, and her memory will live on in my heart.
My donation will go to La Plata County Human Society.
I´m sending my love to you Chuck and to your family in this difficult time.
Mrs Annette MICHELS, Margit´s cousin or as she used to say affectionately "My little sister" from Dudelange Luxembourg in the heart of Europe.

Softly the leaves of memory fall,
Gently I gather and treasure them all.

So missed, so loved, so very dear.

She was the ultimate beautiful woman: always so kind and caring and always beautiful! I feel so blessed to have had her in my life and she laughed at my jokes :)

Families Burkhart and Reich from Ravensburg (next to Lake Constance/Germany) are relatives from brewmasters side.
We spent great holidays at the Eagle Rock Lake House enjoying Margits and Chucks hospitality. Margit was famous for cooking, her potato salad, the spätzle (swabian noodles) and much more German stuff was highly praised.
Unforgettable the laugh, the smile and the grin in her face, her subtle comments on things in the world were renowned.
The German accent in the English pronunciation was - we assume - her extraordinary trademark and she was proud of.
