Joshua Everin Obituary

Former Durango resident Joshua James Everin died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in Indian River, N.Y. He was three days shy of his 22nd birthday. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Known as "Josh," he was born to James Francis and Michelle (Martin) Everin on Dec. 6, 1991, in Durango. He grew up in Dolores, graduating from Dolores High School in 2010.

He was always active. In high school, he played football and baseball, also wrestling. In his spare time, Mr. Everin was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed weight lifting, hunting, fishing and snowboarding.

After graduation, Mr. Everin enlisted in the Army. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Fort Lee in North Carolina before being stationed at Fort Drum in New York. He was an automated logistic specialist and served in the Honor Guard.

Mr. Everin is survived by his father, James Everin of Dolores; mother, Michelle Martin of Dolores; sister, Sara Ashton Marie Everin of Dolores; his grandparents, Judy and Terry Martin of Apache Junction, Ariz.; girlfriend, Kristin Joy of Fort Collins; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Dolores High School gymnasium. Military honors will take place afterward on the Dolores Bears' football field.
