After a long and meaningful life, Robin H. Turner passed away on March 12, 2026, surrounded by family, just five days before her 93rd birthday. She now joins her triplet sister Laurel, her triplet brother Roger, and three older siblings: Knowles, Merrie, and Sylvia. And of course, she joins the love of her life, Rod Turner.
Robin and her "womb mates" were born on March 17, 1933, in
Berkeley, CA, to Ansel and June Hall, arriving as the 4th, 5th, and 6th children in the family. When the triplets were nine years old, the family relocated to
Mancos, CO, where their parents owned and operated the concessions at Mesa Verde National Park for over 40 years. All of the children worked in the park in some capacity during their teenage years.
Robin had a brief stint at CU Boulder with hopes of becoming a nurse, against her parents' wishes. Though that path was not to be, everyone who knew her agreed she would have been an exceptional nurse, with her practical, caring, and loving nature.
In 1953, Robin was set up on a blind date with Durango local Rod Turner at Mesa Verde, and the two fell madly in love. They married in 1954, after which she accompanied Rod to
Port Angeles, WA, where he served in the Coast Guard. She never warmed to the rain of the Pacific Northwest and was overjoyed to return to Durango after his service concluded.
Back in Durango, Robin became the extraordinary mother of four children and a kind, generous aunt to many nieces and nephews. Whether at Electra Lake or at their home in Durango, there was always room at the table, plenty of food, and a shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed it.
Robin was known for being able to do just about anything: back a trailer, run a chain saw, drive a boat, sew, build, and cook for a crowd. She was a steadfast source of strength for family and friends throughout her entire life, and she was deeply and openly in love with Rod for all 67 years of their marriage, supporting him through everything life brought their way.
In her final years at the family's Durango home, Robin became a beloved fixture in the neighborhood, pedaling her three-wheeled bike around the block and marking her progress with handmade signs so everyone would know just how far she had ridden that day.
Robin is survived by her four children, Jack Turner (Tori), Jim Turner, Dave Turner (Kelli), and Laurel Waller (David); six grandchildren, Roddy Turner, Hannah Turner (Austin), John Turner, Bonnie Liebscher (Greg), Sarah Waller, and Hadley Turner; and great-grandson Clayton Liebscher. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, supportive neighbors and her adoring and devoted caregiver, Deidre Bia, who became her closest friend in these final years. Robin's family holds immense gratitude for Deidre and all she gave.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
