Eugene Fauble Obituary

Former Durango resident Eugene William Fauble died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Vista Mesa Assisted Living Residence in Cortez. He was 97.

Mr. Fauble, the only child of Charles and Mae Fauble, was born Sept. 9, 1915, in Van Wert, Ohio. He grew up on the family farm, continuing working there after his high school graduation. Mr. Fauble also traveled around the country as a young man.

In 1937, he married Ann Miller in Van Wert.

Mr. Fauble worked for Buckeye Pipeline Co., of Lima, Ohio, for 40 years, beginning as a ditch digger and ending his four decades with the company as the manager of three relay stations.

In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Fauble moved to Durango, but after a severe winter, moved farther south to Scottsdale, Ariz.

He had moved to Vista Mesa about five years ago.

Mr. Fauble was a great believer in exercise and walked every day. When his children were young, he and his wife were quite involved in their activities. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs.

Mr. Fauble was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ann Fauble, in 2003.

He is survived by his son, Bryce Fauble of Durango; daughter, Janet Fauble, of Scottsdale; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no service.
