Elizabeth Henchel Obituary

Elizabeth (Beth) Henchel passed away on Sept. 27, 2023 in Durango, CO after a brief struggle with cancer. She was 77. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Shanan Orndorff, grandchildren Ava, Jackson and Alex Orndorff, brother Don Henchel and nephew Joey Henchel. Beth was beloved by her family and many dear friends. Born in Queens, NY, she spoke fondly of her time in France and Spain as a high schooler. She raised her children in Denver, where she worked in health care marketing. She retired to Durango to be close to her son and family. She was a devoted, involved, and loving grandmother who formed special bonds with each of her grandchildren. Beth volunteered regularly for the Women's Resource Center in Durango and the local Democratic Party. She was an avid traveler, a stylish dresser, and loved time with her family and friends more than anything. She will be deeply missed. Contributions in Beth's memory can be made to the Women's Resource Center of Durango (WRCDurango.org). A celebration of life will be held in Durango in mid-October.
