Dennis Soignier Obituary

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our father, Dennis Brian Soignier, who departed from this world in the middle of his last chess match on September 17, 2025, at the age of 78. A formidable intellect and a true bon vivant, his absence will be felt by all who knew him.

Born in New Orleans, LA and raised in Houma, LA, Brian spent most of his adult life in Durango, CO. An avid traveler and outdoorsman, his hunting, fishing and wilderness adventures, from marshes and bayous to mountain summits and streams, took him all over the world.

Brian is survived by his three sons, Rodney Denis Soignier (Deanie), Amos Luke Soignier, (Shannon), and Ezekiel Zebedee Soignier; his grandchildren, Mark Denis Soignier and Virginia Soignier; his brother, Gerald "Jerry" Soignier (Kay); his sister-in-law Judy Sobert Soignier; his nieces Angele Soignier Coffman, Jennifer Soignier Drinkard, Marion Soignier and Christine Soignier Chauvin; his nephews Chris Soignier and Andrew Soignier and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodney Francis and Irma Perez Soignier; two brothers, Bruce R. Soignier and Mark M. Soignier; and a nephew, Craig Soignier.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home (3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119) from 2:00 p.m. until a service at 4:00 p.m.
