Stanton, James Allison

April 20, 1949 - June 21, 2024

James "Jimmy" Allison Stanton was born April 20, 1949, to Edwin Joseph Stanton. and his wife Jean Hatfield Stanton, passed away on June 21, 2024, in Cave Junction, OR. Jimmy is survived by three sons: Thomas (FL), Jamie (NH). and Barrington (NY); a sister, Cathy Stanton Holm (Montgomery, TX), brother, Edwin J. Stanton (Lubbock, TX); cousins; nieces and nephews; and a crowd of friends and acquaintances.

Jimmy lived a simple, nomadic lifestyle. Although, his life was filled with adventure following his music. He was living on the ranch of deceased music producer, Marty Bolin, and Nancy Lewis at the time of his death. Nancy said he left behind a box of personals (mostly songs in notebooks), a drum set and a Chev HHR.

Jimmy's entire life was about drumming, writing music and being happy. He began mowing lawns at the age of six to get money for his first snare drum. He was in the Lake Air Jr. High and Richfield High bands in Waco, TX, receiving awards for his talent. He studied with Dr. VanLandingham at Baylor Univ and began playing clubs, dances, and events with bands. He was still actively playing with a classic rock band in Cave Junction.

We will miss his charisma, humor, and antics. A Celebration of the Life will be at the home of Cathy Stanton Holm located at 286 Little Dog Dr, Montgomery, TX on July 1, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Fellowship of Montgomery music fund in Jimmy's name at 12681 FM 149, Montgomery, TX 77316 (936) 597-3949.
