Marvin E. King, 82, of Walker passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Paynesville Care Center in Paynesville.
A visitation will be held May 23 from noon to 12:30 p.m. at the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls. Burial will take place at 1 p.m. at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a veterans organization of your choice.
Marvin was born Nov. 21, 1942, in Willmar, to the late Clinton and Beulah (Thompson) King. In 1961, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with honor until his discharge in 1965. His military service was a source of deep pride throughout his life.
Following his service, Marvin worked as a cable splicer for various telephone companies. Known for his witty humor and over-the-top jokes, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He was also highly mechanical and able to fix just about anything, and was admired for his creativity and love of learning.
A self-taught horticulturist, Marvin was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a deep appreciation for nature, dogs, good music and beautiful women. His friendships – many spanning over 50 years – were among the most important aspects of his life. He was a loyal and faithful friend, always ready to lend a hand or lift a spirit in need.
Marvin was actively involved in the Longville VFW Post 772 and took pride in serving his community. He cherished sunny days on his deck, annual fishing trips, visits from family and sharing beers with his friends.
Despite facing significant health challenges, Marvin clung to life with resilience and gratitude. He leaves behind countless stories and fond memories that will continue to bring smiles and laughter for generations to come. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by children, Debra Henry of Anahuac, TX, Rhonda King of New London, Janae March of Waldorf, Sara King of Cold Spring and Michael King of Foley; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Beulah King; brother Craig King; sister Sheryl King; and grandson Logan.
