Harold Megredy

March 18, 1949 - March 6, 2026

Cary, North Carolina - Harold Doop Megredy, 76, passed away on March 6, 2026 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Harold was born on March 18, 1949, in Durham, North Carolina; he was the son of the late Glen and Frances Capps Megredy. He was a graduate of Cary High School, NC State University, NC Public Management Program and Government Executive Institute. Harold served the State of North Carolina as a state employee for 30 years and was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. During his career he worked for the NC Industrial Commission, NC Department of Labor and NC Attorney General's Office. His last assignment at the Department of Labor was as Chief Deputy Commissioner.

Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cary where he served as Sunday School leader, Usher and member of the Board of Trustees. He was also an Eagle Scout and served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 201.

Harold was preceded in death by his twin sister, Carol Dowling Megredy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sheron Harwood Megredy; son, Ryan Harwood Megredy; and four grandchildren, David Gilbert Megredy, Robert Glen Megredy, Alexandra Noel Megredy, and Marcus Andrew Megredy.

A memorial service will be held 11am Friday, March 20, 2026, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Cary, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, NC 27511, with Dr. William Green officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private family inurnment will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Cary Columbarium.
