Tracy Wyum Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olson Funeral Chapel - Britton on Feb. 21, 2026.
Rutland, ND: The funeral service for Tracy Wyum will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2026 at Nordland Lutheran Church in Rutland. Rev. Julie Johnson will officiate the service. Burial will take place in the Spring at the Rutland Cemetery.

Tracy Jo Malstrom was born May 6, 1965 in Britton, SD to Victor "Joe" and Janet Ann (McNeil) Malstrom. She grew up on the family farm and attended her early schooling in Rutland. Then attended 4th through 8th grade in Havana. For high school she attended Sargent Central in Forman and graduated in 1983. In 1983 she was blessed with her first daughter, Stephanie.

Tracy worked as a flagger for the pavement project south of Rutland, and then in the scale house for Mahrer Construction. She then studied nursing through NDSCS and began working as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Forman Manor. In 1994 she began working at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, where she worked for 30+ years. Her residents and coworkers became family and she truly loved working at the Veterans Home.

On May 25, 1991 Tracy was united in marriage to Brad Wyum. They made their home in Rutland and welcomed three more children, Taylor, Tatum and Logan. She adored being a mom and was proud of her children. They kept her busy with all their extracurriculars and athletics throughout the years. These last couple years she absolutely loved the role of grandma and cherished her grandchildren, and was so excited to welcome another grandson this April. Family was important to Tracy and she loved supporting her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews as often as she could over the years.

She was an avid North Dakota Bison fan and enjoyed a trip to the National Championship in Frisco with Brad and their good friends, Blair and Kristie Kuhn. She enjoyed a fresh garden tomato like it was an apple, and canned them every year. She had a caring heart, often helping others without expecting anything in return.

Tracy passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, at her home in Rutland surrounded by her loved ones.

She is survived by her husband, Brad Wyum; her children, Stephanie (Ryan) Wyum, Taylor (Evan) Wyum, Tatum (Nick) Zins and Logan Wyum; her grandchildren: Landyn, Jolie and Ledger Lysne and Della and baby brother Zins on the way; her sister, Tammy (Wes) Widmer and their children: Joshua Widmer, Randii (Channing) Reed, Noah Widmer, Michael (Erin) Widmer and Rebekah Widmer; great-nephew, Wilder Reed; her mother-in-law, Kathleen Wyum; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cindy (Dan) Lovas, Mona (Paul) Lybeck, Tom (Lisa) Wyum, Robin (Mike) Bogart and Trisha Erdmann; and many Wyum nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Joe and Janet Malstrom; father-in-law, Earl Wyum; twin granddaughters; brother-in-law, Brett Erdmann; and many extended family members.

Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Brad Wyum – PO Box 134 – Rutland, ND 58067.

Tracy was a dear friend of mine. We worked together at NDVH for several years. We both shared the love for our veterans that we cared and had respect for. We both were crazy about our NDSU Bison! I will always treasure the memories of her, especially that beautiful smile of hers. My deepest sympathy for your loss. She is absent from her body, but present with our Lord Jesus Christ.
