Ruth E. Burke, 95, of Fultonville, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 30, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Laura Swart Douglass.
A lifelong area resident, Ruth attended local schools and later business college. She was employed for Montgomery County and later New York State as Deputy Clerk of the Montgomery County Surrogates Court, under The Hon. Guy Tomlinson. Ruth served proudly and faithfully until her retirement.
An avid quilter and game player, she was always up for a good time with family and friends.
Survivors include her three children, Karen Burke, Barbara Kruger and her husband Ken, and Douglass Burke; three brothers, James Douglass, Richard Douglass and David Douglass and his wife Donna; two grandsons, Stephen Kruger and his wife Nicole and Nicolas Kruger and his wife Shannon; three great grandchildren, Xander, Tristen and Amelia; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Samuel and Thomas Douglass.
At Ruth's request, there are no services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to The Montgomery County Office For Aging, 135 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
