Patricia Buchanan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose & Hughes Funeral Home on Nov. 5, 2024.
Patricia A. (Pool) Buchanan, 78, of Tribes Hill, NY, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Born on August 30, 1946, in Amsterdam, NY, Patricia was the cherished daughter of the late Blanche (Vigliotti) and Charles Pool.
Patricia, a proud "South-Sider," graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1966. Always a dedicated professional, she had a passion for secretarial work, with a career spanning various roles, including her time at GE and KCS Abstract, from which she retired at age 62.
Patricia married the love of her life, Larry "Buck" Buchanan on October 2, 1971. They spent nearly 50 years sharing a beautiful life together until his death on July 30, 2021. Together they raised two children and cherished three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Above all else, Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Patricia had a lively personality and always lived life to the fullest. She spent recent years gallivanting with her cousin Angel and participating in activities at the senior club. Patricia also enjoyed traveling. She liked to spend winters in Arizona with her brother, Chuckie, and frequently visited her lifelong best friend, Susan, in New Jersey, and her in-laws in Alabama. Her daughter, Jaclyn, with whom she shared a special relationship, often took her on adventures, too; whether seeing a show, savoring dinners out, or taking shopping trips, they were always out on the town. Their most recent journey together was to New Mexico to celebrate Patricia's granddaughter Alyssa's graduation from the University of New Mexico. Patricia was particularly fond of cruising with friends and family, and she cherished the memories created over shared glasses of wine. Her friendships were a source of joy and comfort, bringing laughter into her life.
In addition to travel, Patricia truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She delighted in cooking and baking, and especially liked to make pizzelle. She was very fond of music and could always be found dancing; she also always took every opportunity possible to sing karaoke. Moreover, Patricia really appreciated nature, since finding the love of camping in the early 70's from tenting, to a pop-up then a 5th wheel; travelling up down the east coast, her most favorite camp ground being North/South Lake.
Remaining to cherish Patricia's memory are her devoted daughter, Jaclyn, and her son, Brian; her grandchildren, Gianna, Brennon, and Alyssa; her great-granddaughter, Adrienne-Rose; her loving brother, Charles; her very best boy and grand-dog Finn; and several extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, November 9th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home on Church St. in Amsterdam, NY. A prayer service will follow at 12:00 Noon with Fr. Nathaniel "Nate" Resila presiding. Patricia will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for family, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and laughter. Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's memory to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231. www.heart.org.
