Miriam J. McCandlish, 89, of Zanesville, died at 12:07 A.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 13, 1936, in Circleville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harmon Roger and Myrtle Marie (Shook) Bach. Miriam was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eastern Star, Moose Lodge of Thornport and Amvets Post 51 of Thornport. She was the kind of person to do anything for anyone but above all, she founded the most joy spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Mimi (John) Wyer; a son, Matt Edward (Laura Wall) McCandlish; three grandchildren, Cody (Cori) Herman, Shaye Wyer and Mindy (Shaun) Staley; four great grandchildren; a sister, Vonna Lee (Dick( Everman; two nieces; and a nephew.
In addition to her parents, Miriam is preceded in death by her husband, Max Edward McCandlish; and a nephew.
A cremation will take place under the direction of BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, AT OUR LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CREMATORY.
