Miriam Brown Obituary
Miriam A. Brown, 90, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 with family by her side. Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of Charles and Ruth (McLean) Brown. Her father was the original designer of the Schenectady Central Park Rose Garden.
Miriam was an accomplished artist, turning her hobby of painting into a passion that spanned several decades. Although never formally trained in art, several of Miriam's paintings were displayed in multiple art shows and received numerous awards. Fittingly, a retrospective of her artwork was held at the Central Park Rose Garden last year.
In addition to her parents, Miriam was predeceased by her brother Sidney Brown.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Paul) D'Annunzio, Joanne (Kevin) Crampton and William (Maria) Wozniak; grandchildren, Darren (Lita) D'Annunzio, Paul (Deborah) D'Annunzio, Brandon D'Annunzio, Heather (Patrick) Garrett, Lauren (Andrew Belden) D'Annunzio, Marta (Dominick) Chiera, Mikelann (Robert) Pierce, Robert (Christie) Carollo, Nicholas (Katie) Carollo and Christina (Mark) Fazio. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and her longtime companion James Murphy.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 11am at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday from 10am to 11am prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in Miriam's name to the Schenectady Central Park Rose Garden, Rose Garden Restoration Committee, PO Box 3814, Schenectady, NY 12303.
