Lori Lee (Shipman) Huling, 59, of Battle Creek, Michigan, was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Lori was born on September 2, 1966, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Ronald Allen Shipman and Sharon Lee Anderson. She was a 1984 graduate of the former Springfield High School and earned an associate degree in administration from Kellogg Community College. Lori retired in 2022 as Executive Assistant to the Board and CEO at Omni Community Credit Union after 38 years of dedicated service.

Lori was united in marriage to David Lee Huling on May 6, 1989, at First Wesleyan Church (now Woodland Church), by Pastor Bob Zuhl. Surviving are her loving husband, Dave; two daughters, Sarah Lynn (Thayne) Asaro of Battle Creek and Hannah Lee (Michael) Whaples of Holland, Michigan; her brother, Gary Allen (Lori) Shipman of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Shipman and Sharon Anderson.

Lori was a faithful member of Woodland Church, where she served as a welcoming face and presence in a variety of roles over the years, including leading small groups, serving on the production team, helping with administrative tasks, and volunteering at countless church events. She walked humbly and joyfully with the Lord, selflessly serving others with a faith that embodied the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

Lori’s steady presence was especially clear in her role as a devoted mother. She was always there, walking closely with her daughters and shaping their daily lives with her care, wisdom, and love. Lori found joy and purpose in showing up for the people God placed in her life, from close friends to strangers. She was genuinely curious about people’s stories and never rushed past an opportunity to stop, listen, and care. She was known for her encouraging words, unhurried presence and listening ear, and generous giving of time and resources. Lori treasured her friendships, being intentional and steadfast in showing up for those she loved whenever she had the opportunity. She was always attentive to opportunities to share her love for Jesus Christ through simple acts of kindness and generosity that never sought recognition.

Lori cherished life’s simple joys and carried a childlike heart that found beauty in everyday moments. She loved reading and studying the Bible in her favorite recliner, relaxing with paint-by-number projects, sitting on the backyard swing with her family and dog, and sharing warm, reflective conversation over morning coffee with her husband.

South Haven and the shores of Lake Michigan held a special place in Lori’s heart. She loved walking along the beach in search of colorful beach glass, moments that often became sacred times with the Lord and a source of deep renewal for her soul.

Lori was also a true animal lover. She adored her own dog Tucker and never missed a chance to spoil her grand dogs with love and affection. Her love for animals was evident through her alone time spent at Binder Park Zoo, sharing funny animal videos with family and friends, and even her soft spot for stuffed animals and any animal-themed decor that made her smile.

Lori was a faithful encourager, especially to her husband, Dave, whom she wholeheartedly supported in his many hobbies and projects. Friends and family knew her as an attentive listener who made people feel truly valued and cared for. Though she didn’t see herself as creative, she loved creatively through personal touches that always brought joy to others.

Lori will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her life reflected a deep devotion to Jesus Christ and a sincere desire to love others well, even through her most challenging seasons. Her final wishes to her family were simple and profound: “Always keep Jesus first, for He is the Truth,” and to love one another well, a reflection of Jesus’ greatest commandment in Matthew 22:36-40. More than being remembered for her own love and presence, Lori’s deepest desire was that everyone she encountered would know and experience the love and presence of their heavenly Father, a mission she faithfully fulfilled.

Lori and her family are deeply grateful to her doctor and care team at the Cancer and Hematology Center in Grand Rapids, as well as the entire team at Bronson Cancer Care Center’s radiation oncology department in Battle Creek. Both teams provided loving care, laughter, joy, and meaningful connection, even on her hardest days.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Woodland Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, followed by a service celebrating Lori’s life at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon and time of sharing stories will immediately follow the service. The service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Use this link - https://control.resi.io/webplayer/video.html?id=34d76380-2ab2-4bbd-af33-37770c96c7b1
