Kathy Luft Obituary
A lifelong city resident, Kathy graduated from Amsterdam High School in 1975 and went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Oneonta in Elementary Education. Kathy was employed as a substitute teacher in The Greater Amsterdam School District before becoming a fulltime homemaker and caregiver.
Kathy enjoyed music, planting flowers, gardening, animals and going to craft shows. She took great pride in her home and always decorated for the holidays. She also enjoyed trips to Vermont. Kathy was a caregiver to many during her lifetime, especially her daughter Jennifer. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her parents; her Aunt, Doris J. Green; and her beloved daughter, Jennifer K. Luft.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Rodney W. Luft; her son, Christopher Luft; her sister, Karen M. Lanzi and her husband Joseph; three nephews, Giuseppi Lanzi and his wife Ashley, Gaetano Lanzi and his wife Cristiana and Giacamo Lanzi and his girlfriend Chelsey Biasini; her mother-in-law, Barbara Ceperley; sister-in-law, Denise Huskey and her husband Brian; cousins, Cheryl Green Rusnica (Mark) and Diane Rath and her husband Niles; cousins and friends.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 1p.m. at the Rose & Hughes Funeral Home, 200 Church Street, Amsterdam, NY. Calling hours will be held prior to the service beginning at 11a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
