Maria Aurora Ortiz September 30, 1928 – January 12, 2026

With deep love and gratitude, the family of Maria Aurora Ortiz announces her peaceful passing on January 12, 2026, at the age of 97.

Maria Aurora was born on September 30, 1928, in Purepero, Michoacán, Mexico, to Nicasio and Rita. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and was one of ten children: Eloisa, Abelino, Jovita, Josefina, Eliceo, Preciliana, Adela, Esperanza, and Vicente, all of whom preceded her in death. She was the last surviving sibling and carried their memory with her throughout her life.

At the age of 23, Maria Aurora married Benito Ortiz, and together they built a beautiful, lively family. She was the beloved mother of thirteen children: Conchita (†), Maria Luisa "Chata", Beatriz (†), Petra (†), Benito, Carmen, Guadalupe, Aurora, Carlos, Pedro, Jesus, twins Mireya and Veronica, also her surviving stepchildren, Marcelino, Teresa and Celia of the twelve stepchildren from Benito's first marriage. Her legacy continues through 26 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and her extended family.

After the passing of her husband, Maria Aurora showed extraordinary courage and determination. At the age of 55, she immigrated to California, eventually settled in Pittsburg, where she reunited with family and began a new chapter of life. She worked tirelessly to provide for her children, creating a strong, loving home rooted in faith, values, pride, and resilience. Under her guidance, her children grew united, hardworking, and family-centered-reflecting the strength she carried all her life.

Maria Aurora will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her joyful spirit, her resilience through life's greatest challenges, and the love she poured into her family. She was brave, devoted, proud, and always carried happiness in her heart.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her husband, children, and siblings, and that her spirit lives on in every generation she helped shape.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
