Dolores A. Calvano Murdico, 87, of
Amsterdam, New York, passed away Monday January 31, 2022 at the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.Mrs. Murdico was born in
Amsterdam, New York on August 9, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Tessitore Calvano. She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1952. Upon graduation, she worked for the US Army Depot in Schenectady and the Adjutants Office and later worked as a legal secretary for Attorney Donald G. Roy and worked for Barlow Manufacturing Company and then retired from the General Electric Research and Development Center. While working at the GE R & D Center, she took several college courses and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. Upon retiring from GE, she worked for Ernesto Morales Jewelry Center and helped her husband at a local TV station with his talk shows. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Italy, Spain and other countries, as well as the USA.Dolores was a former member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, the Church Council, the choir and was currently a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She was an avid reader, loved baking Italian pastries, knitting and crocheting for family and friends and was completely devoted to her pets.Dolores married Anthony Murdico in 1981. He passed away in December of 2008.She was predeceased by sisters: Helen Crocitti, Angela Calvano, Elvira Corradino and brothers: PFC Joseph Calvano and Christopher Calvano.She is survived by nephews: Thomas (Stacy) Corradino of Washington DC, Dr. John J. (Angela) Corcitti of San Diego, CA, Nieces: Helen Calvano and Christine (John) Schanz Schenectady, NY, great nephews and great nieces and cousins. She also leaves Peppe, her devoted poodle.She is especially thankful to: Ernesto Morales who was always there for her and Mark Lazarou, her caregivers, Christine and Floyd Krawczyk, who were there for her at her time of need.Calling hours will be held 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at De Stefano Funeral Home, 1414 State Highway Rt. 5-S, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christina Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street with Father O. Robert DeMartinis as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
