Charlotte Edwards Obituary

Charlotte J Edwards, 97, of Texico, IL, passed away at 12:44 pm March 12, 2026 at SSM Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon, IL. She was born October 1, 1928 in Apalachicola, FL to parents, Homer Leonard Harris, and Hazel Annie Harris.

Late survivors include her husband John Carrol Hoit, who passed away after twenty years of marriage, and late husband, Paul Edwards, who passed away after forty-eight years of marriage. She is survived by a step daughter Beth Ann Gill of Newport News, Virginia, and two sisters, Louise Jernigan, and Eunice Allan. Other late family members are a brother, Homer Harris, Jr., and a sister, Agnes Carol Smith, and step sons Paul David Edwards, and Timothy Edwards of IL. She is survived by many Nieces, Nephews, and many dear friends.

Charlotte was raised in the small southern town of Apalachicola, Fl where she remained until she was married to John Carrol Hoit. They lived in Memphis, Tn for several years and later moved to Belleville, IL. She remained in Belleville, IL until Charlotte and Paul moved to Texico in 2004.

Caring for her father and mother was a great part of her life and dedication. Paul and Charlotte provided a beautiful home and care for their mother until she passed away at the age of 95 in Charlotte's home in Millstadt, IL.

Moving to Texico, IL has been a true blessing in Charlotte's life. Many dear friends have become a part of each day of her life and activities. Friends have provided a family for Charlotte which extended to her, care-giving and every need to provide a blessed and meaningful life for Charlotte.

She faithfully attended the Donoho Prairie Church. During her later life she was blessed naturally and spiritually by the minister and dear friends who welcomed her to their spiritual home. Her life was fulfilled and rewarding, as she expressed in a recent testimony to the church.

Charlotte dearly loved God, Family and Friends! She loved love, and was loved by All!

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Donoho Prairie Church in Texico, IL at 1:30 p.m., with Mr. Matt Renaud officiating. Memorials may be made in Charlotte's honor to Donoho Prairie Church or Thomason Cemetery.
