Raymond W. "Ray" Morrissette, 82, of Granby, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at home after a brave battle with cancer surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on January 30, 1943, a beloved son of the late Lionel A and Marcel (St. Cyr) Morrissette. Ray was raised in Chicopee, graudated from Chicopee Vocational High School as Valedictorian in 1962. He had moved to Granby in 1957 with his family where he lived the remainder of his life. Ray was trained as a Master Cabinet Maker and worked for various cabinet shops including Merrick Cabinet and Doane & Williams Lumber and Cabinet. He joined the Glaziers Union as an apprentice and became a journeyman in 1976. As a union glazier, Ray's work included the construction of the Prudential Building in Boston, Baystate West and Monarch Place in Springfield, the Holyoke Mall, and the Foxwoods Resort in Ledyard, CT. In addition to working for the union, he owned and operated his own business, Ray's Remodeling, where he applied his trade of cabinet making and remodeling for over 30 years, improving homes and properties while treating his customers with respect and fairness. Ray will be remembered as a loving father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather and loyal friend. He loved spending time with family and friends at his Granby home, sharing stories, as well as sharing the apples and blueberries he grew. Ray also enjoyed freshwater fishing with family and friends whenever he had the opportunity. Ray was a kind, giving, and selfless man, who always strived for excellence in all he did, and was willing to help others in need. Ray leaves his beloved wife and love of his life, Carol A. (Constant) Morrissette. They were married on December 1, 1962 at Immaculated Heart of Mary Church in Granby and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving sons, Michael P. Morrissette and his wife Joanne of Chicopee and Daniel C. Morrissette and his wife, Christine of Sparks, NV; his two cherished grandchildren, Miriam Morrissette and her husband, Seon O' Shannon of Sparks, NV and Brian Morrissette and his wife, Shelby of Corvallis, OR; his cherished great grandson, Montgomery Morrissette; his two dear brothers, Roger Morrissette and his wife, Valenda of Nashua, NH and Paul Morrissette and his wife, Marta of Granby; his two dear sisters, Theresa Boissonnault and her husband, Ronald of South Hadley and Veronica Mutti and her husband, Alfred of Springfield; his dear sister-in-law, Barbara Morrissette of Belchertown; his two dear brothers-in-law, Gerald Dugre William Constant, Jr., both of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving infant daughter, Michelle Morrissette; his dear brother, Arthur Morrissette; and his dear sister, Linda Dugre. His Funeral will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
