William Walsh Obituary

February 5, 1948-May 17, 2024
Bill was born to James and Mary Walsh in Waltham, MA, arriving on his brother John's 5th birthday. Growing up he learned to ice skate and play hockey on frozen ponds and learned to fish, sail and shoot pool.
Bill served 4 years in the Navy. He worked in the radar room, writing reports on plexiglass using mirror writing. In 1972, he loaded up his VW bug and traveled to California. He attended 2 colleges majoring in Geology.
Bill worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento, Grand Coulee Dam, WA, Montrose, CO, and settled in Durango in 1989. He was a geologist on the La Plata Dam, Lake Nighthorse project. Bill retired in 2007 to go fishing!
In October 2024, Bill suffered 2 strokes, passing peacefully at 76, one month before his 46th wedding anniversary. His life is celebrated by wife Leslie, sons David (Jenée) and Miles, and beloved sister-in-law Mary Walsh. Ashes were scattered in the warm waters of Hawaii. We thank his friends, medical team, Hood Mortuary, Hospice of Mercy and volunteers. We will miss his stories, hearty laugh and twinkling blue eyes.
