William Robinson Obituary

Former Durango resident William A. Robinson died suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette. He had turned 67 two weeks earlier.

Known as "Bill," he was the youngest of three children of Woodrow and Mary Robinson. He was born Jan. 15, 1946, in Denver.

Mr. Robinson grew up in Durango, graduating from Durango High School in 1964. He served in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971, returning to Durango to earn a bachelor's degree from Fort Lewis College.

He met his wife of 37 years, Ileen Hutchinson, in Durango. On Aug. 1, 1975, the couple married in Las Vegas.

Mr. Robinson spent his professional life working as an administrator of the federal Comprehensive Employment Training Act for the state of Colorado. When he retired in 2000, he was developing and administering job-training programs for Colorado residents.

After his retirement, he enjoyed reading, fishing, watching movies, riding ATVs, traveling across the country in his RV and spending time with his family.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ileen Robinson, of the Denver area; sons James Robinson and John Robinson, both of the Denver area; sister, Ruth Lay, of the Denver metro area; brother, Jim Robinson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two granddaughters; three nieces and three nephews; and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at the Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., in Denver.
