Walt was a great guy and boss - totally fair, forthright, and forgiving...with a sense of humor. So glad that Walt and his family returned to Durango (from Summit), as I was able to learn from him at the end of his career in education. Condolences to Julia and the whole family.

Walt Jackson was a great person, especially as a leader in education, and coaching. He really impacted my life during his coaching stint at Durango High School. This world is truly a better place because of Walt Jackson!

Walt is my ex father in law. He was extremely proud of his grandson Brent. His face lite up at the news of earning a new title Grandpa when we broke the news. Brent was his little guy.
My favorite memory was asking him to make a crib when I was pregnant with Brent. He spent time looking for plans and picking out the wood. He wanted it to be perfect. It was beyond perfect. Not many grandbabies have the honor of spending their first days/years in an elegant handmade wooden crib made by their grandpa.
His woodshop was one of his favorite places to spend time.

My sincere condolences to his family. I knew him as Summit County School District superintendent and the father of one of my best friends. He was a professional and a gentleman, and we also admired him because of his athletic history. My parents liked him partly because of his reputation of cleaning up the school district. As someone else said, his was a life well lived.

A true professional. Dr. Jackson enriched the lives of so many. Education - supporting, promoting, enriching, encouraging others - was his primary focus. He will be missed!
