Mr. Hoover is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marilyn Hoover, of Pineland, Texas; his son, Danny Hoover of Colorado; his step-son, Bruce Haskell of California; daughter, Teri Benge of Colorado; step-daughters, Yvonne White of California and Suzzie Gilliam of Hemphill, Texas; brothers, Stanley Hoover and Donald Hoover, both of Colorado; sister, Lorna Shaw of Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Cremation under the direction of Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill, Texas.

I served with Walt Hoover in Vietnam, Co. C 2d Battalion 16th Infantry, First Infantry Division in 1968. He was a quiet guy who spoke with his actions.

Dick and his wife Marilyn are good friends
of myself and my wife Marilyn. Dick had a heart of gold and helped me many times laying out fence lines and building those
fences.
Dick was a very quiet war hero but a hero none the less. He will be missed by many
and our hearts go out to Marilyn and the
family.
