Walter H. "Buddy" Driever Jr.

Walter Driever Obituary

Former Durango resident Walter H. Driever Jr. died of cancer at his home in Clifton on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. He was

73.

Known as “Buddy," he was born Dec. 28, 1935, to Clara and Walter “Pinky" H. Driever Sr. in Enid, Okla. His family moved

to Durango in 1947, where Mr. Driever's father owned the Clover Rich Dairy. Mr. Driever graduated from Durango High

School.

On Sept. 5, 1958, he married Betty R. Alsdorf at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver. They moved their family to Durango in

1961. Mr. Driever worked for Xerox in Durango and eventually retired from the company.

While in Durango, he was a member of the Jeep Club. The Drievers moved away in the early 1980s.

Since his retirement, Mr. Driever had volunteered at the Senior Center helping with computer operations.

Mr. Driever is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Driever, of Clifton; son, Russell J. Driever, of Cedar City,

Utah; daughters Connie J. Driever of Lancaster, Wis., and Michelle L. Wagner of Potosi, Wis.; sisters Georgine Mounts

and Deloris Wampner, both of Colorado, and Sharon Driever of New Mexico; six grandchildren; and two

great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at the Presbyterian Church, 3940 27½ Road in Grand

Junction. A dinner will take place

afterward.
