Virginia Snyder Obituary

Virginia A. (Lyman) Snyder, 77, of Fletcher Street, Plainville, died on Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Caritas Norwood Hospital following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Francis A. Snyder who died in 1994.

Born in Brockton, Massachusetts on October 16, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Evangeline Lyman. She was raised and educated in Bridgewater where she was a graduate of Bridgewater High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State College.

Mrs. Snyder was an elementary school teacher for the City of Attleboro for 10 years prior to dedicating her time to being a homemaker and dedicated wife, mother and in later years, grandmother and great grandmother.

She resided in Plainville for the last 40 years having previously lived in Mansfield for 10 years.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading and will be remembered by her family and friends as an excellent cook.

She leaves two sons: Gerald L. Snyder and his wife, Jeanne L. (Pass) Snyder of North Attleboro and Neal K. Snyder of Plainville; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Frances Ann Valente who died on April 18, 2003 and was the sister of the late Theodore Lyman.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Graveside Funeral Service on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Plainville Cemetery, West Bacon Street, Plainville. Burial will follow.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2004 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.

Children’s room available during visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the North Attleboro Kid's Day Fund, P.O. Box 3215, North Attleboro, MA 02761.
