Vicky Nichols Obituary

Vicky Dru Nichols, sister of Durango resident Cindy Schol-field, died of cancer Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in Clarkdale,

Ariz. She was 56.

Ms. Nichols was born to Ronald M. and Jean D. Nichols on July 15, 1953, in Wellington, Kan. She earned her associate's

degree in fine arts from Cottey College in Missouri in 1973. In 1976, she earned a master's degree in speech pathology

from Wichita State University in Kansas.

After working in Vail as an apartment manager and teaching babies to swim, she covered the western region for a

company that made machines to help people talk.

Ms. Nichols worked for the Aztec School District from 1996 to 2008.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a stake singles representative, a Relief

Society teacher and a Relief Society 2nd counselor. Her hobbies included knitting, silk-ribbon embroidery, jewelry

making and reading.

Ms. Nichols is survived by her parents, Ronald M. and Jean D. Nichols, of the Woodlands, Texas; brother, David

Nichols, of the Woodlands; sister, Cindy Scholfield, of Durango; and two nieces and two nephews.

A memorial service in Aztec will be held at a later date.
