Tony Cleveland Obituary

Tony Cleveland was born January 20, 1961 in El Monte, CA and passed away October 28, 2025 at the age of 64 in Spokane, WA from natural causes.

His parents relocated the family to Durango, CO in 1972. Tony graduated from Durango High School and went off to receive his Bachelors in Structural Engineering. Throughout his college career he played baseball and went on to play catcher for the Houston Astros.

His father, Bob Cleveland, opened Durango Muffler in 1974 in which later joined forces with Jim Lewis with Durango Brake in 1981. In 1991 when his father made the decision to move to Pahrump, NV and open Pahrump Muffler, Tony purchased from his father Durango Muffler and owned it until he retired in 2016.

Tony married Abigail Cleveland on October 6, 1984 in Durango, CO.

When Tony was not working, you could find him on wagon trains, horseback riding, at the lake camping/skiing or hunting with his family and friends. Everybody that knew Tony, knows he loved his food. If you asked him what to bring to a party, it was deviled eggs and brownies.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Candy Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Abigail Cleveland of 41 years of Durango, CO. Daughter Katie (Bobby) LaPoint of Spokane, WA. Son Tony/TJ (DaNae) Cleveland of Durango, CO. Brother Honce Cleveland and Sister Robin Connelly both of Pahrump, NV. Grandchildren: Jetta, Lucy and Henry LaPoint and Timber Cleveland. Great-grandson: Elliott LaPoint along with multiple nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the VFW in Durango, CO on November 15, 2025 at 2 p.m.
