Sherae House Obituary

Cortez resident Sherae Dawn House died at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction on Monday, May 11, 2009. She was 10. The cause of death was head injuries suffered after her bicycle collided with a car.

Sherae was born to Sheldon R. and Victoria (Yazzie) House in Cortez on April 23, 1999.

Her family said Sherae was a free spirit who loved being outdoors and playing jokes. They said she was bright and compassionate and caring toward anyone she met. She enjoyed playing soccer and basketball. Sherae was a Jingle Dancer.

Sherae is survived by her parents, Sheldon House and Victoria Yazzie, of Cortez; sisters Kiffani Amber Tom of Ogden, Utah, and Jennifer Rachel Tom of Towaoc; brother Anthony Watts of Towaoc; grandparents Melvin and Dorothy Price of Towaoc; one niece and one nephew; and a large extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at Ertel Memorial Chapel, 42 N. Market St., in Cortez. Burial will be after the funeral at Cortez Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Vectra Bank, 350 W. Montezuma Ave., Cortez, CO 81321.
