Sheila Gorman Obituary

Former Bayfield resident Sheila Beebe Gorman died after a lengthy illness at St. Catherine's Home in Albuquerque on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. She was 49.

Mrs. Gorman was born to Gary and Peggy Beebe in Dalhart, Texas, on July 25, 1959. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Bayfield.

Mrs. Gorman spent most of her school years there and graduated from Bayfield High School in 1977.

She had lived in Albuquerque since 1984. In later years, she worked at the University of New Mexico to put herself through school there. Her family said that Mrs. Gorman set her goal and achieved it. One of the proudest days of her life was when she received her bachelor's degree in criminal law.

"She had numerous friends there that will miss her dearly," her family wrote. "Sheila had a very outgoing personality; almost everyone she met became a friend. She was always there, trying to help out when needed."

Mrs. Gorman is survived by her daughters Peggy D. Baggett of Pampa, Texas, and Victoria Gorman of Albuquerque; son, Gary D. Anderson, of Blue Springs, Mo.; parents, Gary and Peggy Beebe, of Bayfield; brothers Robert Beebe and Kyle Beebe, both of Bayfield; sisters Tonya Moon and Debbie Bergt, both of Bayfield, and Patricia Walker of Phoenix; companion of many years, Terry Hatfield, of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, in the chapel of the Pine River Cemetery in Bayfield.
