Shaniah Farmer Obituary

Bayfield resident Shaniah Jordan Farmer died in a car accident Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Junction, Texas. She was 13.

Shaniah was born to Ryan and Deanna Farmer on Feb. 11, 1998, in Bayfield. She was an honor student at Bayfield Middle School and a member of the class of 2016.

She enjoyed spending her days with her horse, Bubba, running barrels and participating in rodeos in both Colorado and Texas.

Shaniah was a member of the Bayfield Riders 4-H Club, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her school's seventh-grade basketball team.

Her favorite sport was volleyball, and she had recently joined a team, allowing her to travel the state, enjoying time with friends and family along the way.

"If you were to ask Shaniah what her perfect day would be, she would say running Bubba in the morning, shopping in the afternoon, having dinner with her family and then a sleepover at night with all of her friends," her family said. "She was a very out-going, fun-loving person who didn't have a mean bone in her body. ... She touched everyone she met in some way, and for that, she will be greatly missed."

Shaniah is survived by her father and mother, Ryan and Deanna Farmer; brother, Hayden; sister, Aubree, all of Bayfield; grandparents Dean and Arlene Cundiff of Bayfield; great-grandparents Bob and Verna Farmer of Nucla; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A funeral will be held at noon Monday, March 28, 2011, at Bayfield High School. Burial will be held at the Pine River Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be sent to Ryan Farmer, c/o Bank of Colorado, 1199 Main Ave., Durango, CO 81301.
