Ruby Mary Bustos passed away on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at The Valley Inn Nursing Home, in Mancos, CO. Ruby was born May 28, 1919 in Ignacio, CO to Ramos Jesus Silva & Hipolita Medina Silva. Ruby married Anthony (Tony) I. Bustos in May of 1938, together, they raised three children. Ruby worked as a Cosmetologist in Charleston, SC in 1939, worked as a Cook for the Durango 9-R School District & retired from Fort Lewis College where she worked as a Dorm Supervisor. Ruby was a talented & accomplished baker who loved making wedding, birthday & novelty cakes. She proudly made all of her grandchildren's wedding cakes & enjoyed teaching her grandkids & nieces how to decorate cakes & make gingerbread houses. She was also a talented crocheter & many of her family members received her hand-made afghans. Ruby will be remembered for her welcoming personality. Ruby was always ready with a home-cooked meal for family, friends, & sometimes strangers. She was a devoted member & volunteer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church & enjoyed her participation in Icenettes & The Legion of Mary. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Tony Bustos & her son Chris Anthony Bustos. She is survived by her sister Vicki Barker; daughters Francine Archuleta (Gilbert) & Christine Wiggins (Pablo); six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, & 14 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins. A Recitation of the Rosary, in Ruby's honor, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016 at 6:00PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Durango, followed by a light reception. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Durango, followed by burial at Greenmount Cemetery, and a reception at the church hall.

My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to all of Ruby's family and friends, I'm so sorry for your loss.I pray that God gives you comfort and peace during this difficult time, and that you know she is at peace in heaven where God has decided her work here on earth is done and her time came for the Angel's who took her home to be with her loved ones and our Lord that have been awaiting her arrival as she will now be doing for all of you, until then she will live on in each of your hearts. Although I only had the pleasure once to meet this incredible and precious woman I was so moved and touched by her that I will continue to remember what a beautiful soul she was.
