Rosemary Farfel Obituary

Rosemary Anne Cotten Farfel knew the words to a thousand songs; she had a song to sing for all aspects of life. As she breathed her last breaths on this earth her Grandson brought her peace with a lullaby and she did her best to sing along. She lived a full and joyous 94 years. December 28, 2017, heaven's angels took this Loving, strong, kind, resilient, witty, bright woman onto her next dance floor, her next ski slope, her next adventure with her Husband and Lover, Clifford 'Angel' who preceded her in death. In 1945 Rosemary met her sweetheart and before she knew his name she heard a voice in her heart say "this is the man you will marry", they married a few weeks later... a 69 year marriage-love affair. She is deeply missed, especially by us, her family! Children: Douglas & Casey Farfel, Timothy & Linda Farfel, Nanci & Alvie Moore. Her Adored Grandchildren: Rikki & Chris Ryan, Joseph Farfel, Michael Farfel, Bridget & Dave Suhre, Desiree Moore, Spencer & Jennifer Moore. The delight of her life, her Great-Grandchildren: Pearl and Dylan Moore. She was the favorite Aunt Rosemary to 15 nieces and nephews and dozens of cherished Great-Nieces and Nephews.

Beyond high school our mother was self-educated! As an Air Force Military wife she lived in Germany & the Philippines traveling Europe & Asia. She attended University through her kids and helped her husband earn 2 Master's degrees! A lifelong learner, she lived to Read and she enjoyed reading the Durango Herald front to back everyday ...without glasses by the light of her kitchen window!

The 1940's Rosemary worked for the new Sears Roebuck then during WWII was a mechanic on the big Bombers...an honest to goodness Rosie the Riveter! She fulfilled the many duties of an officer's wife while raising her children then returned to the work field typing research papers for professors at the University of New Mexico, she also typed for Sandia Corporation (a secret USA nuclear development partner), her dedication to helping people, along with her gift for math, landed her at H&R Block .

Rosemary loved to dance & sing! She and our dad danced at least 3 times a week and in the 1950's she was dancing the Can-Can in a variety show similar to the Durango Snowdown Follies. Her activities included, but were not limited to: Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Cooking, Canning, Tennis, Driving, Swimming, Skiing, Having Parties and Hosting 'Rosemary's Happy Hour Martini Gang'.

Brothers Jack and Pat Cotten's deaths preceded Rosemary; She is survived by Clyde Cotten and his amazing wife Phyllis.
