Rose Helms Obituary

Rose M. Helms, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12 in Durango, CO. She is survived by her husband Bill Helms and her two sons, Paul and Leslie Moreland. Rose was born into a large Italian family and raised on the outskirts of Denver, where relatives still reside. She grew up on acreage in a rural farming community to the north, and though she later left for the city, country life remained close to her heart. After retiring she was drawn back to a rural homestead near Arboles, CO. to lead a simple life. Good home-cooked food and garden produce from that place were great expressions of love offered by Rose to her sons and family over the years. An independent working life held importance for her also early on. She pursued a career, serving with the Federal government in varied capacities over the span of three decades. Her work ethic, persistence, and entrepreneurial mindset became an inspiration to us. These few words only begin to describe a life that has been completed. She is greatly missed and will be carried in our hearts forever.
