Carrie and Annika - I was heartbroken when I heard this. I know we all had lost contact since you moved, but the space in our hearts was still protected for all of you. Bob had such an incredible reputation - well deserved. Rob and I had always felt that Bob was a special gift from God, walking out of the woods when we were trying to decide whether or not the piece of property was buildable. He appeared (an answer to prayer) and assured us it was a great piece of property. The rest is history. We were honored to know him. My heart is with you both. Ginger Stage.

It has been many years since I've seen Bob. I knew him when he lived in San Diego and also at times skiing in Durango. Bob was a wonderful guy with a kind and generous heart. His knock-out smile and teasing personality endeared him to me and to everyone. My family and I will miss him greatly.

Bob was a pleasure to work with. I drilled his personal well and many others for him in the Lake Purgatory area. He was a truly great craftsman and a joy to work with. My condolences to his family.

It was with a heavy heart that I read of Bob's passing.
I met Bob in the mid 1980s in Durango, CO after I went to work for
Red Barn Lumber. He quickly became one my favorite contractors to work with and we became friends. Our working relationship lasted for many years even as I moved around in different jobs at other lumber yards and building supply businesses.
I eventually moved from Durango and lost contact with Bob although I would always ask about him with mutual friends. I was extremely happy to hear that he fell in love, married and had moved to Montana.
I will always remember Bob's kindness, wit, quick smile and his humor. He touched the lives of everyone he met and that includes mine.
I send Blessings of Peace to his family and friends.

Wow. Being pole-axed by learning of Bob´s passing is like hearing that Engineer Mountain collapsed. Bob was that huge of a presence. Yeah, I´ve got stories, mostly success stories from having completed challenging projects together, often under less than ideal conditions. Bob´s strength and tenacity are legendary. Sometimes, when the grain is proud, it takes grit to smooth it down. Grit and endurance and unimaginable strength. Man, I learned a lot working with you, and I hope in some small way that was reciprocated. You always treated me as a friend and respected co-worker, even in your own inimitable fashion. A man-mountain indeed. A man-mountain. God, I am saddened!
