Mr. Piccoli was born April 9, 1947, in Durango to Joe "Tony" and Dora Piccoli and attended Durango public schools. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Piccoli served on the USS Bennington. After being discharged from the Navy, he graduated from Southwestern Business University in Houston, and began his career working as a drafter, surveyor and landman for several oil and mineral companies.
