Richard Martinez Obituary

Randy was born June 6, 1951, in Durango, Colorado, to Mary Archuleta and Ross Martinez. He passed away from complications due to CoVid19 on April 18, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia DeLuzio, his children Damon Archuleta, Candice Smith, Brandi Archuleta, and Krystal Giles, stepdaughter Diana DeLuzio, grandchildren Cole and Kaiden Russell, Jaydien, Ian, and L.J. Giles, Derick DeLuzio, Mia and Zander Clark, and great-granddaughter Page.

Randy graduated from Durango High School in 1969. He joined the National Guard after school.

Randy worked for LPEA for over 40 years. He started as a lineman, then moved to the transformer shop. He finished his career in Energy Management. He retired from LPEA in 2015.

His greatest passion was golf. He would practice all winter to be ready the minute Hillcrest and Dalton golf courses opened. He would have golfed every day if he could have gotten away with it.

His second greatest passion is fishing. He would go whenever he couldn't get on the golf course.

He helped coach the fastpitch girl's team at Fort Lewis. After that, he coached his daughter's team for years here in Durango and Farmington.

He also coached youth bowling for years while his kids were growing up and ended up going back to ti when his grandchildren were old enough to bowl.

Randy will be missed by many. We hope that anybody who had the joy of meeting and knowing him will join us for his service on June 4, 2022, at Sacred Heart Chuch, 254 E. 5th Avenue, Durango, Colorado. The Rosary will start at 9:30 a.m. with the services to follow immediately after. There will be a luncheon in the Sacred Heart School across the street after the service.

Patty, My condolences to you and all of your family. I'm sorry I didn't see Randy's obituary in the paper until June 6th. Of course, I only knew him through golf but have very fond memories of playing the game with both of you. With my deepest sympathy,
Carol
