Richard Bonaventura Obituary

Richard Nicholas Bonaventura, 79, sadly passed away on December 25, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on 8/27/1942 to Nick and Sylvia Bonaventura in Rockford, Illinois.

Dick graduated from Durango High School in 1961. After graduation he joined the Navy and spent most of his military career on the air craft carrier USS Oriskany. He was very proud of his time in the Navy so it was unusual to see him not wearing his Navy hat. After the Navy he returned to Durango and opened the Durango Furniture store. He and his wife, Carolyn, later moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico to retire.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; twin brother, Jim (Sandy); sister Nikki Morrissey; son, Dino Bonaventura (Amy); daughter Cheryl Harper (Shawn) and son-in-law, Brandon Dale. Also, four grandchildren, Nash Bonaventura, Keely Harper and Makenna and Zach Dale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert (Bob); daughter, Charlene Dale and grandchildren Dustin and Bailey Harper.

A small private memorial was held.

May he rest in peace.
