Priscilla Padilla Obituary

Durango resident Priscilla Verlinda (Trujillo) Padilla died Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Mancos. She was 75.

Mrs. Padilla was born to Rogerio Trujillo and Maria Climaca Maestas on Feb. 25, 1938, in Alamosa. She was one of nine children.

On June 30, 1957, she married Benjamin Padilla in Denver. For 37 years, they made their home in Commerce City, where they raised their three children.

In addition to being a homemaker, she cooked and worked as a certified nursing assistant at Poplar Grove Manor.

"She loved saying the rosary, praying and reading her Bible," her daughter-in-law, April Padilla, said. "She also loved cooking and feeding her family."

Mrs. Padilla made tortillas from scratch. When she was younger, she enjoyed embroidery.

In Commerce City, she attended Our Lady Mother of the Church, and since moving to Durango about two years ago, she attended St. Columba Catholic Church when she was able.

Mrs. Padilla is survived by her husband of 55 years, Benjamin Padilla, of Durango; children Roger Raymond Padilla of Durango, Catherine Sarah Maestas of Louisville and Josephine Marie Churchill of Yuma; siblings Lourdes "Lou" Avalina Melgares of Grand Junction and Joseph Franklin "Frank" Trujillo of Pueblo; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Our Lady Mother of the Church, 6690 East 72nd Ave. in Commerce City. A reception will be held afterward.

Flowers should be sent to the church in Commerce City for the service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Josephine Churchill, 206 N. Columbus, Yuma, CO 80759.
