Peter Guerra Obituary

A bright light gone out to soon...

Peter David Guerra died November 14, 2017, much too soon. He was a son to Pete and Susan Guerra, a brother to Isabelle and Olivia Guerra, and a friend to all.

Peter was born in Durango on February 15, 2006 and immediately brought his light and joy to the world. He grew up loved and passed that love on to everyone he met. Though his life was too short, he touched the hearts of many and was a light who continues to shine through those whose lives he touched.

He was never without a smile on his face or a kind word for the people around and brought compassion into everyone's life. Peter never gave up, he loved school and excelled in his classes, he especially loved math and science and continued to spread his compassion by tutoring kids at Riverview as a fifth grader. Peter's loving

heart never hesitated to help a friend in need.

He lived his life trying to find his passion and after trying almost every sport Durango has to offer he found it, climbing. He fell in love with the sport immediately and his newfound climbing family. He was asked to join the climbing team in September and he could not have been happier. Peter competed in several competitions and lit up with joy after every route he completed or even just tried. The love he found in rock climbing seemed meant to be, as Peter means "rock."

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25th at St. Columba Church in Durango.

In lieu of flowers please donate to a Memorial Fund that has been set up at the Bank of Colorado in Peter's name to help support Rock Climbing in Durango.

Pete and Susan, we are just hearing about your overwhelming loss. We can't begin to share in words our heartfelt prayers to both of you and your beautiful daughters. Reading about your son Peter puts a smile on our faces. Clearly by the tributes provided by his friends, families and others that this was not an ordinary young man. This young man was truly a blessing from God to all he met. Peter accomplished more in his 11 years than most people achieve in an entire lifetime bringing smiles, warmth, kindness, and unconditional love to everyone that he touched. Peter will always be looked upon as a role model for all children, grandchildren , parents and grandparents. He clearly felt the love of his parents and of God and living his life to the fullest. Everyones admiration will always focus on both of you, Peter and Susan, for your incredible strength and faith. Please be comforted in knowing that you will forever have ongoing prayers from people everywhere. May God bless you both, Mario & Maureen Palladini

I remember Peter from when he was about 6, during a summer when I briefly worked at St Columba school. I remember he was just the nicest, most considerate and polite little boy. I feel heartbroken for Peter's family.

Peter smile could light up a room, and yes his name means "Rock", just as (1peter 4:9) says "Be hospitable to one another. This was certainly your son. May your family find peace.
