Pearl Wilson Obituary

Bayfield resident Pearl E. Wilson died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at her home. She was 84.

Mrs. Wilson was born to Magdalene and Walter Peterson on Feb. 9, 1930, in Austin, Minnesota. Both of her parents were immigrants from Denmark, with her father hailing from Nykobing.

In the 1950s, she was one of the top sales clerks for J.C. Penney in Denver.

In 1954, she married John Wilson in Denver.

For a time, she worked for a program that provides supplemental nutrition for women, infants and children in Kentucky.

Mrs. Wilson was a good cook, her family said.

She enjoyed and loved her family, and her greatest joy was living in Colorado, her family said. When she was younger, she enjoyed taking her daughter for drives in the mountains. Mrs. Wilson lived in Bayfield for 12 years.

"She had a hard life in recent years with a lot of pain," her daughter, LuAnn Wilson, said, "and she experienced some peaceful moments dying at home."

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Wilson, in April 2013.

She is survived by her children LuAnn Wilson of Bayfield, Steve Wilson of Caribou, Maine, and Jeff Wilson of Cynthiana, Kentucky; two grandsons and one grandaughter; and one great-grandson.

No services will be held at this time. The family has celebrated her life.
