Paul Bynum Obituary

Paul L. Bynum

Paul left us to be with the Lord on August 17, 2015 as the result of a stroke that occured on August 6th. He was born September 21, 1937 in Denver, Colorado. When he joined the army in 1958, he made the rifle team and won various medals and trophies for his marksmanship.

He married Judy Patterson and adopted her two sons James and Dean as his own. They later had 2 sons together Patrick and Jeff. They moved to Durango where Paul was employed as a radio electronics technican for 30 years. Paul loved everything electronic and his computers. Paul and Judy divorced in 1977 and Paul continuied to raise Patrick and Jeff on his own. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help those in need. He especially loved his little Yorkie, singing, playing the guitar, photography and going up into the mountains.

Paul married Carol Hobby on October 13th 1984. Her son James Hobby and daughter Crystal Hobby became part of their blended family. Paul and Carol where soulmates from the first time they met at her yard sale. When he found the Lord and was baptized, he praised God by singing with "The Calvery Trio" in various churches.

Paul is survided by his wife of 31 years Carol Bynum, sons, Jim, Dean (Donna), Patrick (Shawna), Jeff (Cheryl), stepson, James Hobby (Kelly), stepdaughter, Crystal Prda (Ray), and 9 grandchildren, Jimmy, Melissa, Adrian, Drew, Percival, Hadrian, Trajin, Jeff, Nicki, 4 great grandchildren, Daveyon, DaVont, Melodaysia and McKinley. His former wife Juda, a stepbrother Larry, stepsister Karen, and various nieces and nephews also survive him. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Gene, his sister-in-law Evelyn, and stepbrothers Kevin and Mike.

There will be a celebration of our time with Paul on Saturday September 5th, at 10:30 am at the Pine River Valley Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank all the friends, relatives, churches, and people they have never even met that prayed for Paul and his family. Your love and prayers where the rock they stood on and the light that surrounded them.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mercy Hospice.

I was shocked to hear of Paul's passing. He was a good man and a great christian. Paul showed me to the Lord through Kent Hovind and the creation tapes that he gave me. It changed my life and gave me an entire different view of the world. Prayers go out to Carol and the family.

What a great friend you have been over the years. Your giving heart, your standing up for what's right, or endless talks and fun with computers, cameras and anything electronic. Our prayers go to Carol and family. I will miss you my friend.
