Patricia Carlson Obituary

Bayfield resident Patricia Louise Carlson died of an aortic aneurysm Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. She was 78.

Known as "Pat," she was born to Merton Lynn and Anna Louise McCoon on Feb. 5, 1935, in Sacramento, Calif.

She moved to Durango from Santa Fe with her partner, Anita de Parini, in the late 1980s.

"Pat was known by many as the 'coffee lady,'" her friend Kathy Salupo said.

Ms. Carlson and her partner owned and operated the Calico Hill Coffee Cart in south City Market for many years.

She also was a talented artist and photographer, showing her work on her website Greenfire Graphics and selling photos to Shutterbug.com.

She was a supporter of the La Plata County Humane Society and the Wolfwood Refuge.

Ms. Carlson was preceded in death by her partner of 23 years, Anita de Parini, in 1999.

No immediate family survives.

Cremation has occurred. No services will be held.
